Spanish Town, St. Catherine — The Operation Save A Youth (OSAY) initiative, hosted by the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (CJC), received a generous donation recently from the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation that aided in it’s community outreach efforts. The contribution, valued at $500,000, supported a range of community-based activities that uplift and empower young people across the parish.

His Worship, Mayor Norman Scott, shared that once he became aware of the initiative, he and his team felt moved to get involved.

“We’ve committed $500,000 in cash,” he explained, “but we’re also contributing in other ways by providing manpower for community clean-up efforts such as drain clearing and sidewalk painting. We’ll also be donating equipment, tools, and branded T-shirts to assist with the execution of the program.”

In response to the donation, Pastor Dwayne Scott, Youth Director of the Central Jamaica Conference, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the church.

“We are grateful for this timely support,” he said. “It will go a far way in strengthening our outreach and making a tangible difference in the lives of our young people.”

Echoing this sentiment, Pastor Nevail Barrett, President of Central Jamaica Conference (CJC) reassured the mayor and his team that the funds would be used wisely and transparently.

“We remain committed to giving back to the community,” Pastor Barrett affirmed. “This donation allows us to continue the mission of service and transformation, reaching hearts and restoring hope where it’s needed most.”

Mayor Scott also took the opportunity to commend the Adventist Church for its consistent role in community life and national service.

“We really want to commend the Central Jamaica Conference team for this meaningful outreach,” he said. “People often ask, ‘Where is the church?’ And the Adventist Church continues to show that it’s present, offering help, hope, and healing. Whether there’s an impending storm or a crisis has already occurred, they are always among the first to respond.”
