The Central Jamaica Conference Women’s Ministries Department hosted a dynamic Leadership Training Seminar to empower women for impactful service. Held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, under the theme Repositioning for More in 2024.
Devotional Speaker, Mrs Yvonne Bignall, delivered an inspiring devotional titled "Why me? Why Women’s Ministries?" challenged the women to be committed to service and accept the call of God in their lives.
“Empowered by faith, women serve as divine vessels, channelling love, compassion, and strength in service to God's greater purpose, a special function that we cannot ignore,” said Bignall.
Pastor Howard Grant Langley did the prayer of consecration and the president of the Central Jamaica Conference, Pastor Nevail Barrett gave greetings and commended the Women's ministries team for this thrust.
“I applaud the efforts of the Women’s ministries department for their hard work and passion, which has created a platform for inspiration, growth, and unity among the women of our church, said Barrett.
The seminar also provided engaging sessions and insightful presentations, from Mrs Rox-Anne McKoy-Chambers, Women’s Ministries Director, CJC and Pastor Damian Chambers, Associate Professor SRT, NCU, who presented on the topic "Mobilizing Women in Evangelism".
The main Presenter Dr. Lorraine Vernal, Women’s Ministries Director, JAMU, tackled the topic "Building an Effective Women’s Ministries," followed by a lively Q&A session.
Members of the women's ministries advisory team also participated in the service. They outlined what the various groups such as Abigail, Phoebe and Lydia were and gave tips on how the leaders could incorporate them in their churches so that all groups of women could be ministered to.
This session focused on three core areas:
Nurture: Why me? Why Women’s Ministry?
Empowerment: Building An Effective Women’s Ministry
Outreach: Mobilizing Women in Evangelism/ Ministering to Young Women
The Leadership Training Seminar was a resounding success as there were over 170 persons in attendance (including 9 women's Ministries leaders from West Jamaica Conference).
Each attendee received a package with pamphlets with relevant information regarding the department and a souvenir. There were also display booths showing various t-shirts (Abigail, Phoebe, Lydia, Proclaim enditnow).
Equipping women with valuable insights and inspiration to lead effectively in various capacities within their communities and churches, the event reflected the dedication of the Women’s Ministries Department to fostering growth, unity, and empowerment among women in the Central Jamaica Conference.
