Plans for the 2022 Camp Meeting and Lay Institute are in high gear at the Central Jamaica Conference (CJC) headquarters.
After two years of not being able to meet face-to-face due to the presence of the covid-19 pandemic, the office of the president and the sabbath school and personal ministries department are a buzz with activities as they prepare to host Camp Meeting and Lay institute 2022.
According to Pastor Nevail Barrett, President, of CJC, "we are looking forward to meeting with our brothers and sisters, face to face, at Camp Meeting and Lay Institute 2022. A time of prayer, praise, preaching, and mission empowerment." He continued, "God has demonstrated, again, during the last three years, that there is none like Him. Join us and let's celebrate His goodness."
Meanwhile, Pastor Barrington McLean, Director of Sabbath School, and Personal Ministries said that "the lay members are energized and passionate about the gospel of Christ. Leading up to Camp Meeting and Lay Institute, they have been blazing the trail, conducting many evangelistic activities and training sessions".
Camp Meeting and Lay Institute is an annual spiritual retreat for Seventh-day Adventist members and guests. It takes place during the final quarter of the year. Seminars, inspirational speakers, music, and activities geared for the laity, children, teens, and youth are some of the highlights of camp meetings.
Dr. Ainsworth Keith Morris will be the Camp Meeting speaker and he is a native of the beautiful parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica. He has been the product of Seventh-day Adventist Christian Education and minister of the Gospel for the past 28 years. The pastoral ministry of Pastor Morris has spanned several territories across the West Indies and North America. These included the East Jamaica Conference, the Ontario Conference, the Southeastern California Conference, and the Northeastern Conference, where he currently serves as Assistant to the President.
Lay Institute presenter Pastor Damian Chambers Pastor Damian is currently Chambers is an Assistant Professor in the School of Religion and Theology at Northern Caribbean University since 2019. He previously served the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for over 11 years as Conference Director and District Pastor. He is the author of the books On Becoming a Mature Christian (2019) and The Online Bible Instructor: A Guide to personal evangelism in the Digital Age (2022). He has conducted workshops on digital evangelism for local churches, pastors, and lay leaders in Jamaica, the United States, Canada, and several countries across the Caribbean.
This year’s Camp Meeting and Lay Institute will be held from December 14, 20222 to December 17, 2022, at the Camp Verley site in Spring Gardens, St. Catherine, under the theme, “Empowered to Go For More.
