Central Jamaica Conference's (CJC) largest evangelistic effort, Christ for the Crisis evangelistic series, began in fine form at the Family of God Seventh-day Adventist church on Brunswick Avenue, Spanish Town, St. Catherine on Sabbath, September 3. Members, visitors, and well-wishers gathered from far and wide, both in person and online, to witness the start of the unprecedented mixed modality series, which is being spearheaded by the president of the conference, Pastor Nevail Barrett, and his team.
The event forms part of the CJC's evangelistic push and the I Will Go initiative, under the leadership of the newly minted President. Speaking during the official start of the series, Pastor Barrett emphasized that the mission of the church is evangelism, adding that the Christ for the Crisis series is a fundamental part of this push by the CJC.
'The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church in the Central Jamaica Conference is to proclaim the everlasting gospel by impacting communities and preparing people for Christ’s second or soon return. That’s our mission and we are passionate about it,' he said.

'As a result of this we have adopted the I Will go initiative, to tell men and women, boys and girls about the love of God as demonstrated through the death, Resurrection and intercessory ministry of Jesus Christ our Lord,' he added. Pastor Barrett also thanked the leadership and members of the family of God church for facilitating the series and even humorously floated the idea of adopting the Family of God church as the conference church due to the church’s support of the conference’s initiatives.
The evangelist for the series is the President of the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Everett E. Brown. Pastor Brown is no stranger to CJC as he served the CJC as District Pastor, Departmental Director, Executive Secretary, and President for 10 years and spent a total of 20 years in Administration at the CJC.
Pastor Brown, in the preamble to his sermon, titled: Can dry bones live, thanked Pastor Barrett and his administration as well as the Pastors and lay members working within the Central Jamaica Conference. 'I thank you for your prayers and support and your willingness for me to join you in this Christ for the Crisis series. I am honoured,' he said.

While Christ for the Crisis is being hosted at the Family of God SDA Church, it is being live streamed nightly, beginning at 6:30 pm and on Sabbath beginning at 9:15, on the CJC’s Facebook Page and YouTube Channel, as well as WatchCJCLive.com. In addition, the series is being live streamed to other platforms as well, including conferences such as the Jamaica Union Conference and North Jamaica Conference YouTube channels and to churches such as Waterford SDA Church, Mike Town SDA Church, Palmetto Gardens SDA Church, Sydenham SDA Church, Mile Gully SDA Church, Tredegar Park, Waltham, Diamond Acres, Bartons District, Spaldings, Halse Hall, Kitson SDA Church, Rose Hall, Old Road SDA Church, Portmore SDA Church and a host of others across the conference.
In an effort to embrace members of the deaf community, the Pastor of the conference’s deaf church, located at the Portmore Seventh-day Adventist church in Portmore, St. Catherine, Pastor Coniel Morgan, and his team are providing sign language translations so that persons within that community can receive the messages of hope.
