What is Adventist Community Service & ADRA ?
Adventist community services is the humanitarian agency of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that works within Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Territory: Manchester,
Clarendon and St. Catherine.
What does A.C.S. & A.D.R.A. Do?
A.C.S . and A.D.R.A meet people’s immediate needs through social services such as disaster response, education, tutoring and mentoring programs, health screening, and assistance in inner city missions.
Inner City Program
The Inner City program provides vital help to families who are unemployed. It offers humanitarian services such as counseling, food and house ware distribution.
Adventist Youth Emergency Service
The A.Y.E.S involves teens and young adults in disaster response and other community actions projects.
General Services Provided
Disaster Response:
The Adventist Disaster response provides services to disaster victims, their families, and communities. It manages emergency distribution of relief supplies and ware-house operations where donated goods are stored and organized for distribution. It also encompasses door-to-door visitations, and pastoral care for disaster victims’ emotional and spiritual needs.
Mentoring and Tutoring:
The mentoring and Tutoring initiative seeks to assist with the needs of disadvantaged communities by teaching basic reading, writing and computer skill. It also assists students with homework. It provides sponsors for a big brother and sister mentoring program for youth and young adults.
