The Diamond Acres Seventh-day Adventist Church donated J$100,000 to the Willowdene Group of Schools following their request for donations to procure laptops for their online learning platform during a mediathon held on August 23, 2020.
The donation was made on Monday, September 28, 2020, to the principal of the institution, Mr Peter Williams, by Dr Roy Dennis, senior pastor of the church.
Dr Dennis was pleased as he presented an elated Principal Peter Williams with an envelope containing the contributions made by the church.
According to Dennis, "As a church, we believe it is our responsibility to assist with educating our children, and it is my shared hope, that other churches, especially in the parish of St. Catherine, will follow suit and contribute to their institution, the Willowdene Group of Schools," said Dennis.
Principal Williams, who accepted the donations, along with other members of the school's administration, stated that he was very grateful for the contribution and sacrifice of the church members.
"We are very appreciative of the assistance, and it will definitely go a far way in assisting us with delivering the best online learning experience for our children", shared Williams.
With the crunch being felt by all private schools, such as the Willowdene Group of Schools, there is a need for support from all allies, now more than ever.
