As of July 1, and August 1, 2017, six (6) new Pastoral District assignments and one (1) District reconfiguration is scheduled to take effect in the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (CJC).  These actions were voted by the Conference’s Executive Committee on June 28, 2017.

The May Pen and Denbigh Districts will each give up two (2) churches in order to create the New Longsville Pastoral District. This action will see the May Pen District being reduced from five (5) to three (3) Churches and the Denbigh District moving from six (6) to four (4) Churches.

The arrangement for these three (3) Districts, including the newly created New Longsville, will be as follows:

  • May Pen: May Pen, Oliver Gardens and Canaan Heights.
  • Denbigh: Denbigh, Treadlight, Goshen and White Chapel.
  • New Longsville: New Longsville, Rectory Road, Sevens Heights and Sugar Hill.

In addition to the above arrangements, the matter of the appointment of Pastors was the other item to be considered by the Executive Committee. This included the need to appoint a Pastor to the Spalding District of Churches to replace the late Pastor Wilton McKoy, and Pastor Mervin Ellis from the Hellshire District who will be returning to the United States of America.

The new District and Pastoral arrangements are, therefore, as follows:

Kevin Murray

James Hill

Kaymar Lewis

Lovell Spence

Kevan Barnaby

Dudley Dixon

New Longsville

Jason Miller

These assignments saw three (3) Pastors being appointed to manage their own Districts for the first time. These are Kevin Murray, Kaymar Lewis and Jason Miller.
