Three young men (Shemar Jones and Rickelo Watts of the Bellas Gate Football Team and Romain Green of the Blue Hole Football Team) have been baptized as a result of their participation in the Recreational Football League organized by the Youth Department of Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Romain Green was baptized at the end of “Operation Big Blessing” on July 15, 2017, and credits the social interaction with his Adventist teammates as his inspiration to attend church and give his life to the Lord.
Shemar Jones and Rickelo Watts got baptized on the 21st October 2017 during the “Only a Look at Jesus” Gospel Series conducted by Pastor Jermaine Swaby, of the Bellas Gate District of Churches (which includes the Blue Hole SDA Church).
Pastor Swaby, in thanking God for the impact of this initiative, said. “these young men are examples of individuals who may not have been reached with the gospel without the help of the league.”
“The football league is a great medium for evangelism because through the league the church can interact with the young people of the community. Through this connection we build relationships and then share the gospel of Christ,” he concluded.
Bryan Bogle of the Bellas Gate Football Team was the first team member to be baptized as a result of the League. He was baptized on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
The second season of the Recreational Football League kicked off in November 2017 and is scheduled to end in January 2018.
