A 73-year-old man, who had never been to an Adventist Church until he requested Bible Studies, says he was convinced about the validity of the Sabbath from watching 3ABN (3 Angels Broadcasting Network).
Mr. Hue Whitticker, who lives in Portmore, St. Catherine, said he grew up attending the New Testament Church of God where his father was a Minister. Four months ago he joined his wife as a member of the Moravian Church.
However, Mr. Whitticker said two years ago he started watching 3ABN on his Cable Television. He said as he watched the programmes each evening, the question about the Sabbath Commandment came up. He started to ask questions of persons from various denominations about the Sabbath. Mr. Whitticker said he was surprised at the responses he got.
When he asked persons, “Why are you ignoring the Sabbath Commandment”, Mr. Whitticker said that he did not get a satisfactory answer. Some ignored it; others did not consider it important and some gave answers that could not be validated by the Bible.
Mr. Whitticker said he found the answers to his questions while watching 3ABN. After deciding that this is the way he wanted to go, he visited the Portmore Seventh-day Adventist Church during the Net 2018 series; responded to an altar call and requested Bible Studies.
Elder Myers, a long-time friend of Mr. Whitticker for over 30 years and member of the Portmore Church, said that Mr. Whitticker urged him to study the Bible with him. This he did, and after weeks of Bible studies, Mr. Whitticker made the decision to become a member of the Adventist Church through Baptism. He was baptized on Sabbath, March 31, 2018.
Mr. Whittaker says he is now part of the New Believers Bible Class and is enjoying it very much.
Net 2018 is an online evangelistic series by the Central Jamaica Conference that was held between February 18 to March 10. It was hosted by the Portmore Church with Evangelist L. David Harris as the main presenter.
