35 church leaders awarded for long and outstanding service to church and community within the Ewarton district of churches

Thirty-Five (35) church leaders of the Ewarton district of churches were awarded for their long and outstanding service, on Sunday February 3, 2019, during an inaugural awards ceremony held at the Ewarton SDA Church grounds, Linstead St. Catherine.

The awards ceremony is a new and unique initiative that celebrates outstanding church leaders who provide selfless service, are committed to work of Christ, and empower others to take seriously their contribution to mission.

Special recognition was given to Eugeny Simpson, for serving the Ewarton SDA Church for the past sixty-five years. She is the oldest foundation member of this church and is always giving of her best in whatever area she can. She loves the Investment work and always exceeds expectation in this area During her earlier years, she served as Lay Preacher, Sabbath School Superintendent, Deaconess, investment Coordinator and was also a choir member.

“This is our way of highlighting and saying thank you to all the officers from the five churches in the district who have left a lasting impact on both church and community,” said Sean Williams, Pastor (Ewarton district of churches)
“More importantly, it is also my hope that this will serve as a motivation to them to remain committed to the work and inspire the participation of others,” he said.
He also encouraged each awardee to allow their encounter with God to be like Daniel, who regardless of the age and circumstances under which he started his ministry remained connected to God.

Pastor Levi Johnson, President, CJC and guest speaker at the ceremony said that the Ewarton district must be commended for this noble initiative.

“I am so honored to have been asked to share in this service and I commend the Pastor and elders for organizing this ceremony for us to show appreciation and say thank you to these church leaders,” he said.

He also reminded the awardees to remain committed and stay at their posts as it is God who will ultimately reward their faithfulness.

“This is only a pause in the journey, the “well done” words will not be spoken until the work is over, and Jesus returns to call his faithful children home, he declared.

Former Pastors of the Ewarton district, David Riley and Wesley Gayle also shared in the recognition ceremony and registered their gratitude to the officers for their commitment to the work during the period they each served.

Elder Cedric Ramsay of Charlton in giving a response on awardees’ behalf expressed that this ceremony was really appreciated and made him feel strengthened to continue with the Lord’s work.

This award ceremony will become an annual feature for the Ewarton district of churches

Ewarton SDA Church: Suzette Amos, Pauline Smith, Curtley Palmer, Celeyon White, Eugeny Simpson, Delano Heron, and Sharon McDonald

Charlton SDA Church: May Richard, Delroy Rattigan, Satina Carby, Cedric Ramsay, Ivanhoe Rhoden, Herbert Frew, Elizabeth Wright, and Marie Brown

Lluidasvale SDA Church: Antonio Brown, Michael Williams, and Felix Brown

Orangefield SDA Church: Bryan Watson, Anton Peterson, Gladys Wallace, Myrtle Brown, Lascelles Bailey, Nigel Richards, Thelma Eastwood, Merceda Peterson, Joyce Grant, and Milton Wellington

Pennington SDA Church: John Batchelor, Olga Thompson, Lorraine Gordon, Enez Brailsford, Seymoure Mitchell, Jermey Rhule, Emeke Lewis, and Yvonne Small
